• Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Welding/Mechanical/Material Engineering or a closely related field, and related membership of a recognised professional body.
  • Demonstrable proficiency to minimum level IWT (International Welding Technologist, preferrable International Welding Engineer) in accordance to ISO 3834
  • In-depth working knowledge of ASME Section IX. A working knowledge of NACE MR0175 and AWS D1.1.
  • Proven technical expertise in associated NDT and inspection processes related to welding of a wide range of materials common in oil and gas industry (carbon steel, corrosion resistant alloys, etc).
  • 10 years’ experience in Welding/Inspection activities in the specific area of competences in case of IWE proficiency or 15 years’ experience in case of IWT proficiency.
  • Intimate knowledge of various welding techniques (manual, mechanized, automatic) and welding related technologies (overlay,metal spray, surface treatment, heat treatment, etc) as well as ability to develop weld repair procedures.
  • Experienced in providing advice, facilitation, and training on the development, administration, and technical aspects of an organization’s welding, inspection and quality systems or improvement efforts at all levels.
  • Ability to liaise with the Site engineers as well as Materials Corrosion, NDT, Inspection, Mechanical, Piping and Structural engineers on welding related issues, understanding of causal analysis and problem solving principles.
  • Strong team player with a proactive approach to the decision-making process.
  • Ability to coach and lead and influence national and international staff.
  • Excellent housekeeping and ability to maintain good records of weld procedures and welder qualification records
  • QA/QC competencies and familiarity with ISO9001 architecture
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to make presentations, prepare training materials and write effective reports
  • Fluently written and spoken English skills
