The Organisation

The WWF International Regional team for Asia Pacific (AP) is responsible for managing and providing oversight to WWF International Managed Offices in the Asia Pacific comprising of 2 regions: South East Asia (SEA - Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam); and East, Central Asia, and the Pacific (ECAP - Mongolia, China Representative Office, Central Asia offices, and Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands).

The Role

As Director, Conservation Impact – ECAP, reporting to the Regional Director, you will lead and support country offices across the region to develop and implement strong, locally relevant conservation strategies that align with WWF’s International Strategic Plan, global goals, and regional priorities. You will ensure the ECAP region has a high-impact programme portfolio supported by robust monitoring frameworks, effective systems, and the necessary expertise and leadership to drive measurable conservation outcomes. Collaborating closely with country teams, you will play a key role in aligning national strategies with global initiatives to maximise WWF’s impact across the region. Other responsibilities include:

• Regional and country office strategic planning and implementation support
• Ensuring an impactful programme portfolio and initiative development
• Developing fundraising opportunities from donors, governments, and the WWF network
• Strategic partnership development and public representation
• Thought leadership on key conservation issues at a regional level
• Coaching and mentoring leadership to achieve conservation goals and priorities
• Actively affirming and modelling WWF’s behaviours, values, and culture

Skills Required
  
With post-graduate qualifications in a conservation/environmental science, or a related discipline, you bring significant senior level and broad technical conservation leadership experience gained in the ECAP region. Your experience includes success collaborating with external partners in governments, intergovernmental institutions, business and industry, NGOs, and local communities, to amplify impact and drive change. You also bring:

• Clear evidence of successfully enabling conservation delivery in the region
• Demonstrated experience working in an international matrix organisation
• Team leadership and coaching experience which has increased impact and results
• Experience in, or knowledge of, wildlife security and an ECAP language (highly desirable)
